Thu, October 26, 2006 - 8:00 AMSorry, I've been meaning to drop some news in here for a while and I just got aroudn to it.
Here's what is known
San Mateo Marriott is a good little hotel. It'll be more cozy than we're used to, but it's got great services and the rooms are really nice.
Masq will be headed by Andy Trembley and Kevin Roche as a prelude to the 2008 CostumeCon at the DoubleTree.
Kitty Crowe (last year's chairman) will be the Fan Guest of Honor and Seanan McGuire(or however you spell it) will be Toastmaster.
I'm running the fanzine lounge and will have ribbons!
The food at the hotel is very good, though expensive. There are a few decent places around the area, though I've only tried one or two of them.
Writer Guest has been asked, haven't heard if they've confirmed. An interesting choice, that's for sure.

Has there been any official attention to the dip in attendance at the 2007 Baycon, and if so, what was said or planned?
(This will be my first Baycon, I'm looking forward to it btw. )
I am so all over that Firefly larp, and I will personally be ensuring that there will be games of Thieves World (rpg) and Seventh Seas(rpg). Theme seems to be furry space pirates.....I'm not sure if this is a Man-Kzin Wars reference. -

A row with the Bay Area Animation Society has opened up over the Anime room...after serving Baycon for a very long stretch, they were specifically 'uninvited' this year?
Ouch. These guys were the masters of Anime in America-in 84'. I know there is more to this story, but IMHO, you really don't want these guys on your bad side, they pretty much own the American Anime Con scene, even Anime Expo owes them deep.

Mon, May 19, 2008 - 4:29 PMunfortunately i believe it's deeper than this. i would suggest that the person in charge of BAAS is possibly spreading rumors about being "uninvited" and that perhaps there is another reason why BayCon has asked someone else to be in charge of their anime room. you might want to ask someone who is in charge of programming about it if you would really like to know the truth. i am not at liberty to say, but i am privvy to certain things. not everything you read on the internet is true or without bias. might i ask that we please not spread any sort of rumor without knowledge of all parties involved.
